Keeping skin-like surfaces in good condition depends on understanding your doll’s material and following a gentle routine. First identify whether your doll is silicone or a more porous skin type, as care differences matter. For both types, start with a routine wipe-down after use: warm water and a mild, non-abrasive soap can remove oils and debris without harsh effects. Use a soft cloth or sponge to avoid micro-scratches, especially on joints or fingers. Rinse thoroughly to prevent soap residue, then pat dry with a clean towel. Allow surfaces to air-dry completely in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
Deeper cleaning is done periodically. For silicone skin, you can use a dedicated, skin-safe cleaner and a soft brush to reach seams. For porous skin, minimize exposure to oils and solvents; stick to gentle cleaning agents and avoid alcohol-based products unless specifically recommended. After cleaning and drying, you may apply a light, skin-safe conditioner only if the manufacturer approves it for your material. In all cases, avoid petroleum-based products and avoid silicone oils that can interact with certain silicone or TPE surfaces. Dust prevention helps preserve texture: use a light dusting of cornstarch or a product designed for doll care to reduce stickiness, when advised by material guidelines. Store the doll in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and extreme temperatures to prevent material degradation over time. Finally, inspect joints and skin regularly for wear, and address any issues early to extend the life of your doll’s skin.
